Rose McGowan Just Dragged Meryl Streep For Taking Part In The Golden Globes Silent Protest

Rose McGowan Just Dragged Meryl Streep For Taking Part In The Golden Globes Silent Protest

It's been a pretty intense few months for Hollywood as hundreds of women and men have stepped forward to publicly name their alleged sexual assaulter.
As a result, it's been rumored that several major actresses plan on wearing black to the 2018 Golden Globes as a protest to the harassment in Hollywood, and not everybody is okay with this.

Earlier this year, The New York Times broke the story on Harvey Weinstein and the dozens of sexual assault allegations against him.

This would be just the tip of the iceberg as several other big names in the entertainment industry were soon accused, including Kevin Spacey, Matt Lauer, and Louis C.K., to name just a few.

As a response to the many allegations, it's rumored that several major actresses will be wearing black to the 2018 Golden Globes as a silent protest.

Among the actresses supposedly wearing black is nominee Meryl Streep.

Although it sounds like a commendable idea, Rose McGowan has a different opinion.

In a now-deleted tweet, she wrote, "Actresses, like Meryl Streep, who happily worked for The Pig Monster, are wearing black @GoldenGlobes in a silent protest."

"YOUR SILENCE is THE problem. You’ll accept a fake award breathlessly & affect no real change. I despise your hypocrisy. Maybe you should all wear Marchesa," she added.

For the uninformed, Marchesa is a women's clothing line founded by Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife, Georgia Chapman.

This isn't the first time that McGowan had publicly called out Streep, who had once called Weinstein a "god" in an acceptance speech.

Since then, Streep has spoken out against Harvey, calling allegation news "disgraceful."

Streep wouldn't comment on whether she would officially be wearing black at the awards but instead said that we'll have to "tune in."
