16 Of The Most Underrated Travel Destinations
We hear about people traveling to epic places like Bali, Paris, and Italy, but there is a whole world out there to explore! Don't get me wrong, those other places are fantastic and totally on my bucket list anyway, but the below travel destinations are underrated and definitely deserve more love.

1. The Philippines
Despite having thousands of islands, The Philippines doesn't have a huge tourist population. It totally should, though! Some highlights include the Chocolate Hills of Bohol and the Kawasan Falls, shown here. How beautiful is that turquoise water?

2. Gdansk, Poland
These colorful buildings are just one of many gorgeous sights in Poland. Gdansk, in particular, has a plethora of top-rated restaurants, shops, museums, and more. Those interested in historic sights might be drawn to Oliwa Cathedral and Westerplatte.

3. Bolivia
Residing underneath the Andes Mountains, Lake Titicaca is home to ruins of the ancient Inca civilization. Bolivia is also home to the longest, highest cable car in the world. It shows off a spectacular view of La Paz.

4. The Azores, Portugal
Okay, I haven't even heard of this one but wow is it a must-see! This sort-of secret island is ideal for the nature enthusiast, with bodies of water like Lagoa do Fogo and Caldeira das Sete Cidades.

5. Mozambique
Located in Southeast Africa, Mozambique can make anyone feel like a mermaid. Spend time soaking up the sun on Tofo Beach, or snorkeling amongst colorful aquatic life. Maputo is the capital, and the hub for restaurants, shopping, and more.

6. Guyana
Lush rainforests, picturesque waterfalls, and rich wildlife are a few reasons to visit this quiet paradise in South America. Georgetown is a popular spot amongst both tourists and locals, with historic colonial buildings, botanical gardens, and the Stabroek market.

7. Slovenia
Bled is a common resort town in Slovenia, named after the popular neighboring Bled Castle. Ljubljana is home to a lot, including the Dragon Bridge, and Triglav National Park is perfect for nature hiking and general exploring.

Doesn't this look like a picture out of Hogwarts or Narnia? Austria is an absolute dreamland during the winter, with old-style architecture and mountains blanketed in snow. Vienna is home to artistic, Baroque palaces like Hofburg and Schönbrunn Palace.

Mongolia has a lot to offer, but somehow has a low tourism rate. Who wouldn't want to go camel trekking through sand dunes and mountains? You can visit the Gandantegchinlen Monastery, which translates to "Great Place of Complete Joy."

St. Petersburg is without-a-doubt an architectural wonder of the world. It hosts like the infamous Church of the Savior on Blood. Hermitage Museum is a few centuries old, and Anichkov Bridge is home to a lot of history.

Looking to escape civilization? Faroe Islands are built on lush landscapes, and for the most part, unexplored. From Vestmanna Bird Cliffs to Mykines, there is a lot to see and do on these peaceful islands.

Ever seen a limestone, neolithic temple in near-pristine condition? Didn't think so, but there are two known as Ġgantija in Malta. Azure Window is an arch over a lagoon in the island of Gozo, and it is frickin' stunning.

Being the heel of boot, Puglia has a lot of old farmland and castles, along with beaches and lakes. Gallipoli has both, with the Gallipoli Castle overlooking blue waters, and across the bridge from the Renaissance-era Green Fountain.

No wonder this small island inspired a movie about animals, there is a lot of wildlife here! You can go snorkeling in tropical waters and take selfies with a grumpy turtle, like this one.

Itching to visit a big city, but still bask in nature? Taipei, Taiwan is perfect, with acres of green space for biking and hiking, and tall, towering buildings and shopping. Oh, and food is said to be bomb!

16. Albania
Backpacking in the Cape of Rodon, swimming in clear open oceans of Sarandë, and touring the amphitheater make Albania a versatile destination. There is something for everyone! Visitors can also explore medieval remains of Butrint in Butrint National Park.
