You Didn't Know Trash Bags Could Make These 12 Scary Halloween Decorations

There are a few reasons to use garbage bags when decorating your home for Halloween. First of all, everyone has trash bags lying around their home. We use them weekly at the side of the road, so you're bound to have a box or two in your house at any given time. Second, they're cheap, especially if you get the store brand ones (because you don't need to worry about the quality when it comes to using it for decorations). Third, the slightly shiny black material gives to the creepy effect of Halloween.

1. Corpse

With garbage bags, string, and newspaper, you can make a cheap decoration that looks like a human corpse. So creepy.

2. Spiderweb

Here's a cheap and easy way to fill your house with large black spiderwebs. All you need are trash bags and scissors. It's much like making snowflakes out of paper at Christmas time, but with a spookier result.

3. Ceiling Decoration

It would be cool to have this kind of low so that it just brushes the top of people's heads. It would be creepy. Anyway, again all this takes is trash bags, scissors, thumb tacks, and a lot of time.

4. A Circle of Ghosts

White garbage bags, a sharpie, and some posts in the ground are all that is needed to make this circle of ghosts on your front lawn. They're tied at the bottom together to give it that floating look.

5. Front Porch Curtain

Super simple: hang up garbage bags over a porch entrance way and cut into strips (it doesn't have to be even). I wouldn't tie it back, but make the kiddos have to walk through it for added spook effect.

6. Wreath

Using those orange pumpkin garbage bags, simply cut into strips and tie around a metal coat hanger (that has been stretched into a circle). Use a black garbage bag for the bow.

7. Front Door Curtain Garland

This uses a lot of garbage bags. You'll need 50 trash bags and some wires and wire cutters. The skeleton detail is optional.

8. Figures Dancing Around a Fire

Stuff the "head" of the white garbage bag with newspaper or leaves and use clear packing tape to create. For the fire, use outdoor white Christmas lights. Make sure to tie the arms together.

9. Flying Ghosts

Have these around your yard and when the wind blows you'll have flying ghosts. All it takes is a small white kitchen garbage bag, a Styrofoam ball, and a coat hanger.

10. Garland

Use trash bags across your walls and dollar store decor to accent.

11. Giant Spider

This takes a little more time and effort than the other ones featured here, but having a giant creepy spider in your front yard just might make it worth it.

12. Bats

With a little electrical tape, wires and garbage bags, you can have these creatures made in no time. I suggest hanging them from your ceiling in poorly lit areas to freak our your guests.
