3 reasons why Afghanistan have a brighter future
Afghanistan cricket team is a “new born” team that is making its mark in the cricketing world. They have been really impressive in the qualifiers for World cup as well as marked their first ever win in a World cup match against Scotland. Here are the three reasons why Afghanistan is a better side than Bangladesh and have a brighter future than the tigers.
Impressive against all odds
The Afghan nation hasn’t got much of the facilities for playing cricket still they made their way into 2015 ICC World cup. Whereas, Bangladesh made their first World cup appearance in 1999. Bangladesh played their first ODI in 1986 and it took them two World cups to be a part of the prestigious tournament. It also took them two World cups to register their first World cup win. Afghanistan however, too had to wait for three World cups but they had worse situation in their backyard. When they got the opportunity to play they grabbed it with both hands and secured a WC win against Scotland in their first ever World cup.
T20 formats
They are ranked 9th in International Twenty20 cricket as of 25thJuly 2015 ahead of full members Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
First win
Bangladesh had to wait until 2004 for its first ODI win since the 1999 World Cup. The team on the losing side on that occasion was Zimbabwe but this is not same for Afghanistan.
