Google Shopping launched in India. Try Google Shopping to know the best offers available online

Google Shopping launched in India. Try Google Shopping to know the best offers available online

Google has announced the launch of its own shopping portal in India. Simply named as Google Shopping, it is more of an aggregator. This means that the site lists deals from all e-commerce retailers such as Flipkart, Amazon, Shopclues, Club Factory, Snapdeal and even from lesser known ones such as Shein.

Google is making shopping way easier and simpler than ever before. It is doing this with the help of newly introduced Google Shopping search experience. In India, there are several online retail stores like Flipkart, Amazon, Paytm mall and so many other such shopping websites, which is why shoppers often tend to get confused with where to shop from and which platform offers the best deal. With Google Shopping, the tech company is aiming to resolve this problem.

Given the multitude of these very options, it is often challenging to find answers to questions like "Where can I find a red short-sleeved dress" or "Where can I find the best deal?" But now, with its new Shopping platform, Google is trying to make it easy for the shoppers to find the "perfect" answers to these questions quickly.

Announcing the Google Shopping on Thursday the company said that its "mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful to everyone. That's why today we are bringing a new and exciting shopping search experience to India."

Google Shopping is a personalised and immersive experience that will help shoppers "easily filter through offers, review prices from multiple retailers and find that right product." Google further says that "this experience will get richer with usage and is available across several Google products: the first is a made-to-browse (think window shopping!) experience on the new Shopping home page."

In the near future, Google says that the Shopping platform will be to the entry-level phones users as well. "We are also making the same experience available to users with entry-level phones, through a Progressive Web App (PWA)." Starting today, the Google Search will include a new Shopping tab on its window. To make the shopping experience richer, Google has added some smart features, including price drops and a collection of the most popular products on the platform.

Good news for online retailers

For the online retailers out there, "Merchant Center" is one of the most important places to upload store and product data for Shopping ads. Google brings some good news for these retailers. From now on, retailers using Merchant Center to upload product details can also make their products appear across Google. All this can be done "without paying for ad campaigns".

Google has also announced that, so far the Merchant Center has been only available in English, but starting today it will also be available in Hindi. "With these changes, our aim is to empower many more retailers in India to participate and reach millions of internet users," Google explains.
