Fans Are Praising Dakota Johnson For Revealing Her Phone Number
It feels like Hollywood is the Wild West these days, with nothing but gossip, feuds, and piping hot tea everywhere you look.
So it's always refreshing to see celebrities introducing us to new and important causes — and leaving the drama to their mamas.
We all know and love Dakota Johnson thanks to her supporting role in the 2012 hit, The Five-Year Engagement.
Kidding.
Obviously, it was her role as Anastasia Steele in theFifty Shades of Grey franchise that really gave her that extra push into Hollywood, and everyone now knows exactly who she is.
If I'm being honest, I'm personally a big fan of her cameo in The Office, but I think that's just me.
Anyway...
She grew up knowing all about the spotlight.
After all, she's thedaughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, and Antonio Banderas used to be her step-father.
So unlike many actresses her age, who are just getting started in the industry, we can imagine that the shiny lights of Hollywood are a bit more of the norm for her.
Dakotais notoriously hush-hush about her private life.
She doesn't use social media (at least publicly), and it's basically up to the paparazzi to fill us in on who she may or may not be dating.
At the moment, she has unofficially been dating Coldplay singer Chris Martin.
But again, she has never confirmed anything. So for all we know, they could just be really good friends.
Anyway, despite being extremely private, she took Instagram by storm the other day.
Like we said, she doesn't use social media, but her very first Instagram post was quite public.
She shared a picture of a phone number, more specifically, her phone number.
And the message she included as to why she was sharing her phone number has fans singing her praises.
"Women and girls in every corner of the world face extreme violence and sexual harassment on a daily basis," the post began.
"Over 800 women and adolescent girls die every day because they do not have access to reliable contraceptives and basic maternity services.
I don’t want to speak for you. I want to listen to you,"
"This is my phone number. Tell me your story in my voicemail, and I will listen. There is power in numbers."
"Together with @glblctzn I will compile your stories and get your voices heard.
We must achieve a world where #sheisequal.
Love, respect, and trust, Dakota"
She tagged Global Citizen in the post as well.
According to their website,Global Citizenis "a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030."
When you actually call the number, you're directed to a voicemail with a prerecorded message.
"This is Dakota Johnson. Please leave a voicemail after the tone and I will record and share your story so we can live in a world where she is equal. Thank you," the voicemail says, according toCosmopolitan.
Now, I'm 99.9999% certain that this isn't Dakota's personal and private number that she uses for things like texting her good friend Chris Martin.
But still, it's a huge gesture for any and all women who have or are still facing violent situations and have a story to tell.
It sounds like Dakota is really going to work hard to get their voices heard.
Fans are commenting on her post and praising Dakota's efforts to raise awareness.
It's clear that she really does care about the well-being of others and isn't afraid to take a stand.
Honestly, it's just so nice to see celebrities sharing their phone numbers for positive reasons, and there's no drama or maliciousness to it whatsoever.
