7 Celebrity Beauty Brands That Are Worth Every Penny And 7 That Are Way Overrated

7 Celebrity Beauty Brands That Are Worth Every Penny And 7 That Are Way Overrated

Even if you're not in the beauty industry, you are likely aware of just how massive it is.

The beauty industry is one of the fastest growing, and because of its popularity, it's a no-brainer for celebrities to get in on the action.
For many fans, when a celebrity creates their own product line, they are immediately interested. Celebrity Beauty Brands
Unfortunately, just because an A-lister's name is attached to a line, doesn't always mean it'll be successful.

So which celebrity brands don't live up to the hype and which are actually worth all your hard earned cash?

You'll need to keep reading to find out, and I'm saving the worst for last!

1. Kat Von D Beauty

Ever since her time on Miami Ink, I've been obsessed with tattoo artist Kat Von D. When she launched her beauty line nearly 10 years ago, she was one of the few on the block who offered super pigmented lipsticks and shadows. Tbh, her entire collection is A+.

2. Alterna Hair Care

While Katie Holmes is busy taking care of Suri Cruise, she's somehow managed to work as co-owner of this hugely popular hair care brand. With the Kardashian's hairstylist as its ambassador and nourishing products made from sustainable ingredients, Alterna has gained a huge following. If you have dry or damaged hair, it's time to treat your tresses once and for all.

3. Iman Cosmetics

We need more lines like this! One of the world's first supermodels (and David Bowie's wife, FYI) created a stunning collection that caters to all ethnicities and skin tones. The best part? It's budget-friendly, with most of the items available for purchase on Amazon for between $8-15.

4. Elizabeth and James

I would never have guessed it, but the Olsen twins have a pretty awesome lifestyle brand. Their perfume line Nirvana comes in three different scents. Plus, they also have their own dry shampoo in a rose and bourbon (which is musky and sweet) scent. If it's good enough for the Olsens, it's good enough for me!

5. KKW BEAUTY

Following in her sister Kylie's footsteps, Kim launched her own cosmetics line. The focus has been on what Kim is known for — contouring. Her crème contour and highlight kits were developed with the helping hand of make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic. Since then, she's released a lipstick and three fragrances, which have all sold out.

6. Fenty Beauty

Rihanna's debut makeup line made headlines with its foundation that comes in 40 different shades. Fenty majorly shook up the industry, and now other makeup brands are following suit — about time! Aside from the foundation, if you're looking for the ultimate glo up, Fenty's MatchStix shimmer sticks are the highlight you've always wanted and needed.

7. KORA Organics by Miranda Kerr

Interesting factoid: Before Miranda Kerr became a model, she studied nutrition and health psychology. Much of this knowledge helped her form the KORA Organics skincare range. The line has products that will make you glow and leave your skin feeling hydrated. Best part: it's pretty inexpensive!

Now it's time for the worst and overhyped!

Because not everything is always a win, win, win for celebs. Sometimes, it's just an epic fail from start to finish.

8. Jeffree Star Cosmetics

A quick Google search will show you that Jeffree Star has been a problematic individual since his MySpace days. So why do people keep supporting him? People praise his over-the-top hues and long-lasting liquid lipsticks. I'd rather support other beauty lines, like his former BFF Kat Von D, for example.

9. The Honest Beauty Company

Jessica Alba was in heaps of trouble back in 2015 when her natural cosmetics company The Honesty Beauty Company was sued. Uh oh. Seems like her team didn't exactly disclose all the items that were in the products. Doesn't seem all that honest now, does it?

10. MDNA Skin

If you have $600 laying around and want to achieve Madonna's skin, then hey! This may just be the skin care solution for you. While the MDNA Skin Chrome Clay mask sounds pretty neat, mixing all kinds of tech (magnets!) and Korean beauty practices to achieve perfectly dewy skin, I legit can't get over the price tag.

11. Kylie Cosmetics

Kylie Jenner's launch into the makeup world has been a bit of a rocky one. While her brand has been wildly successful, she has been surrounded by controversy for stealing designs and formulas. This past summer, she released her own set of makeup brushes for $360 which fans were angry about. Yikes.

12. Goop by Juice Beauty

Gwyneth Paltrow is trying to get us all to lived the Goop lifestyle. The problem is: Goop isn't for everyone. Her skincare line (which ranges anywhere from $90-$140) uses an all natural formula, but the products themselves seem similar to others on the market. While it gets decent reviews, if you're pressed for cash, your dollars are better spent elsewhere.

13. Sevin Nyne by Lindsay Lohan

I'll never forget when Lindsay Lohan released her very own self-tanner back in 2009. Of course, the product was messy and orange. Kind of reminds me of a certain someone who was invested in the company... While the brand seems to have quietly disappeared, you can still grab bottles of the stuff on Amazon

14. Melania by Melania Trump

Did you know that Melania once had her very own skincare line? Yep, it's true. Her skincare line included facial lotions, exfoliators, and cleansers laced with caviar imported from the south of France. But after some intense legal battles, her line barely made it into the hands of shoppers.
