‘Game Of Thrones’ Stars Place Their Bets On Who Will Sit On The Iron Throne

As Season 7 of Game of Thrones Season 7 starts, we're faced yet again with the most important question of the series, “Who will sit on the Iron Throne?”

Though the actors on the show have their lips sealed shut about what will happen this season, there has been some talk of who they feel most deserves the Iron Throne.

We left off Season 6 with one of the most hated characters sitting on the throne.

Cersei said it herself, "When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die."

We know her days on the throne are numbered, so who will take her place?

Ellaria Sand is played by Indira Varma, who believes that Daenerys should take the throne from Cersei.

She believes Daenerys Targaryen is fit to rule, “[I] definitely don’t think it’s going to be Cersei. I think it should be Daenerys. She is goodness itself.”

Actress Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Missandei, is (unsurprisingly) rooting for her Khaleesi.

When asked why Daenerys should rule, she says, “I think with her history and the suffering she’s endured, I think she cares more about the masses, and not just about power and status.

"She has a really good moral compass and she’s also really fierce and not to be messed with.”

Jacob Anderson who plays Grey Worm is also #TeamDany for all the right reasons.

He believes that his queen is best fit to rule the seven kingdoms. “Daenerys has come from very tough beginnings. She’s really put in the effort and learned how to govern.”

And as expected, we already know that Iain Glen, who plays Jorah Mormont, is rooting for the queen of his heart, Daenerys.

Jerome Flynn, who plays Bronn, is thinking that Dany will only rule with his best friend Tyrion Lannister's help.

Flynn says, “I’m inclined to think Tyrion has to be there in some form. I think he’d be a really good leader. So, maybe if he teamed up with Daenerys in some way. On her own, I think she could lose it a bit.”

Peter Dinklage also has doubts about how long Tyrion will side with Daenerys.

He points out that there's definitely some inner conflict when it comes to the Tyrion and Dany team.

“We’ll deal with how much Daenerys can trust him ... He’s smitten with his employer. How good can he be at his job while having those feelings?”

Richard Dormer, who plays Beric Dondarrion, chimes in that Snow doesn't really stand a chance to win the throne.

Good guys really do finish last in Game of Thrones. Dormer says, “He’s a good man. You can’t be a good man in this world because all the good die very quickly.”

Lord Yohn Royce is played by Rupert Vansittart, who believes that Jon Snow has the power to bring houses together.

He believes that the Vale will not just support anyone. "But I think that Jon puts forward the case that is so compelling that we all realize we have to just get into line. I think self-preservation and self-interest probably brings us in."

"I think we probably appreciate there is only one who can command this situation, and that’s Jon Snow."

Jon Snow is clearly a natural-born leader. He proves that he knows what it takes to command an army in Season 6 when he says, "Will your men want to fight for you when they hear you won't fight for them?"

I think we all know where Arya stands in terms of ruling kingdoms.

Maisie Williams believes that her character's sister, Sansa Stark, is best fit to rule Winterfell, while her half-brother, Jon Snow, should take the Iron Throne.

I guess we'll have to wait and see which one of the Starks will end up in Winterfell — if they even survive the seventh season.

Sophie Turner is rooting for Jon Snow to rule the Iron Throne and has plans of her own for Winterfell.

She believes in her character, “I think the Stark that should rule Winterfell is Sansa because she deserves it and she’s a natural-born leader."

She also adds, “But I don’t think she really wants the Iron Throne at all. Winterfell is just perfect for her.

"Jon Snow should be on the Iron Throne out of all the Starks. He’s kind of got the whole package and has a great team around him. I think he’d be quite a good king.”

On the other hand, Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, believes that Sansa would be fit for the throne and his other sister Arya should be the one to rule Winterfell.

Was this an honest answer or was he just being humble for his fictional half-sisters?

I'm going with the latter, especially since Kit just loves to throw his fans off in his interviews.

Sansa is definitely a strong female character with plenty of potential to rule...

But there is no way she is touching that throne with a 10-foot pole after what went down in King's Landing last time she was there.

My only response to Kit is...

Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays their little brother Bran, has a unique "vision" of his own.

He tells EW, "I think Sansa should rule Winterfell and I think Jon Snow should get the Iron Throne."

Then Gwendoline Christie and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau interviewed each other.

Gwendoline asked him who he'd like to see on the throne, and he gave her a politically correct response: "I'd like to see Brienne of Tarth on the Iron Throne ... I think she would be an honorable and just ruler."

They are actually too cute.

Some actors from the show also point out that all of the politics won't matter in the end.

Thrones shmones, White Walkers are the real problem here, and it seems like Jon Snow is the only one who even realizes it.

Let's hope the rest of the characters finally get a reality check this season.

Iain Glen points out that there are bigger problems than Daenerys getting back the throne.

He reminds us that the leader of the White Walkers is on a poster of this season and that, “He’s there for a reason."

Aidan Gillen,who plays Petyr Baelish, also agrees with Glen.

He points out that "everyone’s getting obsessed with this question [of who should be on the Iron Throne] but I don’t think it’s the question we should be asking here.

"The threat that’s coming is bigger than all that. The threat of the Night King.”
