A beautiful smile is always a good thing and part of having a gorgeous pair of chompers is keeping them white. If you've been noticing some more visible stains on your teeth because of things like coffee or red wine and think you need to pay an arm and a leg out of your pocket for professional whitening, think again. Even though these home versions of teeth whitening aren't as fool proof or effective as laser whitening at the dentist, they are effective enough to make a difference for super cheap! Check out these five tricks to whiten your teeth at home:
1. Banana Peels
After you're done eating that banana, keep the peel and rub the inside of it along your teeth for two minutes. The potassium, magnesium and other minerals absorb into your teeth causing them to whiten without leaving your teeth extra-sensitive like chemical teeth whiteners do.
2. Strawberry and Baking Soda Paste
Create your own tooth whitener by making a paste out of strawberries and baking soda. Take one strawberry and mash it up along with one teaspoon baking soda to create a paste. Spread the paste on your teeth and let it sit for five minutes. Rinse out your mouth when done and brush your teeth with regular toothpaste. The reason strawberries are a whitening agent is because it contains an enzyme called mallic acid which is a natural stain remover.

4. Whitening Toothpaste Isn't Working?
Leave it on for a few minutes before you rinse your mouth!
5. Burnt Toast
Weird, right? You don't need to eat the burnt-to-a-crisp toast, but rub it on your teeth for a few minutes. Apparently it's an effective abrasive in getting rid of yellow teeth stains. Make sure you brush your teeth afterward!
6. Activated Charcoal
Use this trick with caution, but they say activated charcoal can work to effectively whiten teeth. You'll want to pour a teaspoon of water into a glass and then add a teaspoon of charcoal powder as well. Let the charcoal soak in the water and form a paste, and then apply to your teeth and let sit for 15 minutes. Then rinse with water and brush your teeth!
