Celebrity Chef Anthony Bourdain Has Died At The Age Of 61


Anthony Bourdain, celebrity chef and host of CNN's Parts Unknown, was found dead Friday morning of an apparent suicide.

CNN released a statement saying, "It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain."

Bourdain was in France working on an upcoming episode of his award-winning show, Parts Unknown.

His friend, fellow chef Eric Ripert, found Bourdain unresponsive in his hotel room.

In 2000, Bourdain released the bestselling book, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, which chronicled his life as a chef. The success of Bourdain's book led him to his own food and world-travel show, A Cook's Tour.


On Bourdain's career, CNN said, "His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink, and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller."



Bourdain is survived by his daughter, Ariane, as well as his girlfriend, Italian actress Asia Argento.

The public has responded with resounding sadness to Bourdain's death, including Queer Eye's own chef, Antoni Porowski.


Chirssy Teigen also shared her sorrow over the loss of an integral member of the culinary community.


We are incredibly saddened by the death of Anthony Bourdain, and he will be remembered for his passionate contributions to the world of cuisine and the arts.
