Hilary Duff Told Her Son She 'Sucks' At Being A Mom And His Response Was Too Pure

Hilary Duff Told Her Son She 'Sucks' At Being A Mom And His Response Was Too Pure

Hello, everybody, and welcome to my TED Talk.
You're about to learn why Hilary Duff is still the queen of whatever she does — including being a mother — even after all these years.
Please turn your cell phones off (unless that's what you're using to read this right now) and save your questions until the end. Thank you.

Alright, so, I know we all grew up watching Hilary Duff basically dominate the Disney Channel.

Lizzie McGuire was definitely our Patronus all throughout middle school.

Beyond her Disney days, Hil put out some pretty sweet music that promised bop after bop on a long car ride.

Her music had a bit of edge to it, but not so much that your parents would ban you from listening to her.

She starred in a few movies that you can bet hit me right in the teenage hormones.

I know you guys loved A Cinderella Story, but nothing gets to me more than Raise Your Voice.

Then, before we knew it, our idol was getting married and having a baby, and just like that, we all felt SUPER old.

Seriously, I was happy for her, but oh, boy, did I have a crisis when she announced that.

She gave birth to Luca Cruz back in 2012, and if that isn't the coolest baby name you've heard, you're lying.

Also, he's absolutely adorable, so there's that.

Hilary has kept us pretty up-to-date on how motherhood has been going, and from we could tell, she's been killing it.

Even after she and Mike Comrie split, she continued to rock the hell out of parenting.

We saw Luca grow up right before our eyes, and we've seen Hilary's acting and music career grow, too. She's continued to maintain a (relatively) squeaky-clean image throughout the years, and we've continued to just adore her.

In June, she announced that she and her partner, Matthew Koma, were expecting a daughter.

And again, we were over the moon, and I didn't feel as old because all my friends are having babies now and it's fine.

Anyway, when it comes to showing off parenting moments, just like everybody else, Hilary doesn't really share the tougher parts of being a mom.

Why would you want to put things like tantrums, giant messes, and silly mom-fails on display for the public to scrutinize?

Especially when you have over 10 million followers. No thanks!

Her followers got on Hilary's case for kissing her son on the lips at Disneyland, so I'm sure even posting the tiniest bit of controversy and they'd be all over it.

No, really — she got so much hate for this. The parent shaming in Hollywood is crazy.

Still, Hilary certainly isn't perfect, and she recently shared in an interview with InStyle that she was having a pretty off day.

"It was just one of those mornings where everything that could have gone wrong, was wrong, and we were running late. I was burning the toast over and over again, and I think I had literally been through three pieces of toast. [Luca] was finishing his homework, and it was just crazy, and I was like, 'Oh my God, I just suck right now.' And I said it out loud," she explained.

Her son, being the absolute angel that he is, stopped her in her tracks.

"And he was like, 'What?'
I was like, 'I'm just I'm burning everything, I'm burning the toast, and I can't do anything right right now,'" she said.

"And he said, 'You don't suck, you're the best mommy. You're doing the best you can do. And I really like burnt toast.' I was like, 'You are the sweetest child. I can't even deal with you, thank you so much. I don't know what I did to deserve you,'" she said.

And honestly, you guys, I'm pretty sure that having a child that sensitive and caring is a sign of really good parenting, so there's further proof that Hilary Duff is an amazing mother, and nobody can say otherwise.

I don't have children, but if I did, I'm sure their response to me saying that would have been, "Yeah, you do suck."
So, there's that.

I'm honestly so weak right now. Maybe one day, Hilary will publish a book full of her best parenting hacks. You can bet that it would be a best seller for SURE.
