Flipkart Plus to launch on 15 August Like Amazon Prime : Benefits, Eligibility And More

Amazon Prime will soon have competition in India. The US-based e-commerce giant Amazon's arch-rival Flipkart is set to launch its second loyalty programme. To be called Flipkart Plus, the customer loyalty programme will offer benefits similar to Amazon Prime, which went live in India in 2016. Here is all that Flipkart Plus will offer and more:

Flipkart Plus will be free

Unlike Amazon Prime, which has a subscription fee, Flipkart Plus will be entirely free. Amazon Prime's annual subscription fee is Rs 999. There's also a monthly option available, priced at Rs 129.

This is Flipkart's second loyalty programme in India

Flipkart experimented with a loyalty programme earlier too briefly in the year 2014. Called Flipkart First, it was a paid service.

To launch on August 15

Flipkart Plus will launch on this Independence Day, August 15.

Benefits of Flipkart Plus

* The programme will offer faster and free delivery
* Early access to major sales events
* Bengaluru-headquartered company says Flipkart Plus customers will get better customer support
* Early access to products during sale

Flipkart will offer customers digital currency

Flipkart Plus customers will get digital currency called Plus Coins. Users will reportedly get these Coins when they shop on the website. The e-tailer, however, has not revealed the details about the product categories that will be eligible for these points. They will also be able to use these Plus Coins on partner platforms like Zomato, BookMyShow, MakeMyTrip and others.
The membership service will be exclusive to Flipkart

Flipkart will not extend the benefits Flipkart Plus to sister websites including Jabong and Myntra.
